We support educators and early learning professionals who are navigating increasing levels of anxiety, dysregulation and escalation in children. When working with children who are neurodivergent or have a history of trauma, traditional behaviour management approaches may not always work, in many cases they can increase behaviours of concern. It can be helpful to look beyond the behaviour and understand what is happening underneath it. I can work alongside educators to better understand how a child’s nervous system, neurodevelopmental profile, diagnosis or experiences may influence how they respond to the demands of an educational environment. Together, we can explore practical, realistic strategies that support regulation, connection and participation, while also helping educators feel more confident responding to challenging moments. The goal is not simply to manage behaviour, but to understand what the child is experiencing and create an environment where they are better able to feel safe, regulated and ready to learn.
